Miss Kelly, seen here in 2008 performing a solo piece, started her training at Cameron Academy at the age of 4 and continued through the examination levels, receiving high marks in her results.  Miss Kelly was also a student at the Langley Fine Arts School from grades 8-12, and set many pieces of choreography on her peers.  At the National High School Festival in Pennsylvania in 2008 she was the Canadian recipient of a US college/university scholarship and studied at DeSale’s University summer program.  Choreography and teaching continue to be her passion, and she hopes that her back injury allows her to continue pursing her dreams.  She is a well loved and respected dance teacher and is the daughter to Miss Deborah Cameron A.R.A.D. principal of Cameron Academy of Classical Dance.

  Brendan Saye

Brendan Saye has been promoted to Second Soloist in 2013

Brendan Saye trained at Cameron Academy until he was asked to join the National Ballet School in Toronto.  Upon graduation, Brendan became the the recipient of the 2008 Peter Dwyer Award and the 2008 Christopher Ondaatje Award.  He joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2008, joined the Corps de Ballet in 2009 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2013.

Mr. Saye’s repertoire includes the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Icicle in The Nutcracker as well as roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Onegin, Giselle, Don Quixote,Alice’s Adventures in WonderlandLa Fille mal gardéeThe SeagullHamletCarmenThe Four Seasons, Opus 19/The Dreamer, In The Upper Room, the second detail, Glass Pieces,West Side Story SuiteChroma, Emergence, No. 24 and EnkeliRecently, Mr. Saye danced in the Canadian premiere of Nijinsky by John Neumeier.

In 2012, Mr. Saye represented the National Ballet in The Tenth International Competition for The Erik Bruhn Prize with Corps de Ballet member Emma Hawes. That same year, he was awarded the Patron Award of Merit by the Patrons’ Council Committee of The National Ballet of Canada

. While a student at Canada’s National Ballet School, Mr. Saye was the recipient of both the Peter Dwyer Award and Christopher Ondaatje Prize.

Cameron Dance Academy Dancers – Sophia Lee now Principal of Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

NEWS ANNOUCEMENT:  Sophia Lee also trained at Cameron Academy and has just been promoted to PRINCIPAL DANCER with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company. Sophia was accepted into the Royal Winnipeg school at the age of 14 years and completed the Royal Winnipeg year 6 level in the spring of 2010, as well, received the Prince Edward scholarship award, the highest award the school presents.  Sophia performed soloist spots in the school’s outreach performances.  She was chosen to attend the Banff Professional Division  in July 2010 and was cast in three works.  She began the “Aspirant” program with RWB September 2010, with a full calendar of performing opportunities including a pas de deux televised for the Canadian Genies Awards in the Spring of 2011. She joined the company in the corps de ballet in the fall of 2011 and has a remarkable journey to date.  We congratulate Sophia on her recent appointment, and success for her future.  Sophia’s debut performance was in Svengali with the RWB in Vancouver in April 2011, “Juliet” in Romeo and Juliet in Jan. 30 – Feb 1, 2013  at the QE Theatre and the Nutcracker.

We look forward to seeing Sophia on her next appearance on stage in Vancouver.

Corps de Ballet member Sophia Lee, fresh from a lead role as “First” in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s production of Mark Godden’s ‘Svengali”, here dances Leonard Cohen’s modern song classic. Allison Crowe sings and plays piano on-stage with Lee in the world premiere of “The Doorway”, choreographed by Jorden Morris. RWB Soloist Jo-Ann Gudilin (nee Sundermeier), “Mother” in “Svengali”, dons the blue dress to perform “Hallelujah” with Crowe on alternate dates.
